Water Filtration Installation

Many homeowners face water quality challenges, which can affect health and household appliances. If you’ve noticed strange tastes, odors, or sediment in your tap water, it might be time to consider a solution. At Mr. Rooter Plumbing, we specialize in water filtration in Savannah, Georgia, and are ready to provide quality services to ensure your water is as pure as possible. Whether it’s a whole house water filtration installation or targeted water filtration repair, we have what it takes to get the job done. Keep reading to learn more about the signs you might need a filtration system and explore the best options for your home.

Signs You Need a Water Filtration System in Your Home

Not all water issues are immediately apparent, but several signs suggest it might be time to invest in a water filtration system. If your tap water has a persistent bad taste or odor, it’s a clear indicator that contaminants, such as chlorine, sulfur, or even bacteria, might be present. Hard water, which leaves mineral deposits on dishes, faucets, and even in your hair, can be another sign. Additionally, cloudy or discolored water should never be ignored as it could signal the presence of sediment, rust, or organic matter. If you’ve been experiencing skin irritations or worsening health conditions, poor water quality might be a contributing factor.

Comparing Different Types of Water Filtration Systems

There are several types of water filtration systems available, each with its own advantages and drawbacks. Knowing more about your options can help you determine the right one for your home:

  • Activated Carbon Filters: These are used for removing sediment, chlorine, and organic compounds that can cause unpleasant tastes and odors. They’re often found in countertop units or pitcher filters. While effective for basic filtration, they don’t remove minerals or dissolve contaminants like heavy metals.
  • Reverse Osmosis Systems: Known for their thorough filtration capabilities, reverse osmosis systems remove a wide range of contaminants, including lead, nitrates, and bacteria. They work by forcing water through a semi-permeable membrane, capturing impurities. However, they can waste a significant amount of water and require regular maintenance.
  • Ultraviolet Purifiers: UV purifiers are excellent for disinfecting water and targeting bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens. However, they do not remove chemical contaminants or particulates, so they’re often used in conjunction with other filtration methods.
  • Whole-House Water Filtration Systems: These systems filter all water entering your home, ensuring clean water at every tap. They can combine various filtration technologies, making them highly effective against a wide spectrum of common contaminants. A whole house water filtration installation in Savannah provides comprehensive protection and convenience but requires a professional installation for optimal performance.

DIY vs. Professional Water Filtration Installation

DIY installation is typically only suitable for simple systems like faucets or pitcher filters. These installations require basic tools and skills but may still involve the hassle of ensuring a proper fit and avoiding leaks. For more complex systems, such as whole-house filtration or reverse osmosis units, professional installation is highly recommended. These systems often require modifications to your home’s plumbing, which can be difficult without the proper training and experience. Incorrect installation can lead to reduced effectiveness, water damage, or voided warranties. A professional can ensure the system is correctly fitted, calibrated, and maintained, providing peace of mind that your water is truly clean and safe. At Mr. Rooter Plumbing, we offer whole house water filtration installation in Savannah, including both whole-house and targeted solutions.

The Benefits of Whole-House Water Filtration Systems

Investing in a whole-house water filtration system comes with many incredible benefits that extend far beyond just clean drinking water. These systems provide comprehensive filtration for all water entering your home. This means that every tap, shower, and appliance benefits from filtered water, which can reduce wear and tear on plumbing fixtures, increase the lifespan of water-using appliances, and even improve the effectiveness of soaps and detergents. Health benefits are another major advantage. By removing contaminants like chlorine, lead, and bacteria, whole-house systems contribute to better overall health for you and your family. Skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis may improve, and you can enjoy peace of mind knowing your water is free from harmful pollutants. Whole-house water filtration systems can also improve your home’s energy efficiency. Scale and mineral buildup in appliances, like water heaters and dishwashers, force them to work harder, consuming more energy. As a bonus, there’s no need to manage multiple filters at different points throughout your home, and the maintenance is typically straightforward, often requiring just a periodic change of the main filter. When considering water filtration replacement, choosing a whole-house system can be a long-term solution that provides consistent benefits across your household.

Reviews

Josiah was our plumber from Mr. Rooter. He was the best! Not only did he arrive on time, he handled everything we needed to replace our kitchen faucets and some pipes in a timely manner. We held our dogs at bay outside; he assured us they, all 4 of them, would not be a problem since it was hot out back. We let them in and they fell in love with Josiah. We appreciate his care and concern for us seniors and will certainly request him again when we need a plumber. Donna and Jeff Youngblood

Made a call to request service for a leaking garbage disposal system. The phone line went down and I gave them a 1 star review thinking they dropped the call. It was just poor phone signal. They called back and apologized even though it was not their fault. (This just shows they are ready to give you good service.) They came and fixed my garbage disposal in no time. Good people. Great service. I thought I deleted my 1 start review. Apologies that it took sometime for me to make this update. Thank you Mr. Rooter.

Joe really helped me out! Had my whole house backing up and after snaking the drains through a toilet hole he determined the best course of action was the hydro blast the main line, which required a cleanout to be installed. He dug up the line, installed the cleanout, and blasted out the clog all in one day. Pricing was fair and they even honored my membership discount from some work I had done by Mr. Electric (also a Neighborly company) a couple years ago. I will definitely be calling Mr. Rooter again if I have any other plumbing problems!

I had a water emergency over the Easter holiday, called several "24 hour" plumbers and none of them bothered to help me except ONE. Mr Rooter sent Josiah to repair my broken pipe and install a new HOSE bibb that caused the emergency. He was very professional and efficient, and got the repair completed quickly. While it cost more than a normal job, I was lucky to find him on short notice on a holiday. Thanks to Mr Rooter my Easter weekend wasn't a TOTAL WASH OUT!! (pun intended)

Felix and Will saved the day! (And our new old house.) I had a competitor company come out to help us with some seriously backed up plumbing. (They snaked one drain and then said the only solution was to reroute our plumbing to the main line, a 4-6k cost!). I called Mr. Rooter for a second opinion. They arrived exactly on time, listened to our issues, worked with our contractor who was there to help, and they were able to clear our entire home’s plumbing in a couple of hours and for less than $400! Felix and Will were polite, patient, and took extra time to make sure every drain in our house was working properly before they left. I’m so grateful. We will definitely keep getting our plumbing maintenanced by this crew. Thank you!!

Frequently Asked Question

At Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Savannah, we understand that you may have questions about our services or how your plumbing system works. Here are some common questions we have been asked:

Why is my faucet leaking?

A leaking faucet is often due to worn-out washers, O-rings, or seals within the faucet assembly. While these issues can usually be fixed with simple repairs, ignoring them can lead to higher water bills and further damage over time.

How long do water heaters typically last?

The average lifespan of a water heater is 8 to 12 years. Maintenance tasks like flushing your tank and checking the anode rod will help to extend its life.

What should I do if I smell some gas near my water heater?

If you smell any gas near your water heater, it’s important to leave the area immediately and contact your emergency services and your gas company. Don't try to fix a gas leak on your own, because it can be extremely dangerous.

How do I know if my sump pump is working properly?

To ensure your sump pump is functioning, test it by pouring some water into the sump pit. The pump should activate and remove the water. Regular maintenance checks, especially before rainy seasons, can prevent malfunctions when you need the pump most.

Are there any benefits to routine drain cleaning?

Regular drain cleaning prevents clogs, reduces foul odors, and maintains the health of your plumbing system. It can also extend the lifespan of your pipes and help prevent unexpected plumbing emergencies.
